My name is Doug Glenn and I have been teaching in the Hazel Green HS Science department since I started teaching in 2006. This year I am teaching AP Biology
to 11th and 12th graders and College Prep Biology
to 9th graders.
All courses will emphasize student-driven, experiential learning. This means lots of reading and study requirements outside of class so that class time can be used for immersion in various activities, including labs and collaborative student learning.
We cover the following topics in all of my classes:
- Basic chemistry emphasizing water properties and carbon-compounds, as well as various biogeochemical cycles
- Cellular structures and processes including enzymes and energy, photosynthesis and respiration, and cell reproduction and molecular genetics
- Evolutionary processes and their influences on biodiversity, including population and community dynamics
In addition to teaching advanced biology classes, I also run the brand new wrestling program here at Hazel Green. We have male and female participants representing every grade level. Most are brand new to wrestling.
I received my B.S. in Biology from Athens State University
