The 2018-2019 school year is my fifth year to serve on the faculty of Hazel Green High School. I am a native Huntsvillian who has family roots in the Hazel Green community, so I feel right at home here. The running joke is that if you talk to me long enough, we will probably discover we are related!
Speaking of family. . . My husband is a business manager who continually amazes me with his leadership expertise, grill skills, and the ability to find a parking spot at the most crowded SEC football games. He and I are the parents of two adult children who still make us so proud to be their parents. Our daughter is a graduate of Samford University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Religion and Christian Women's Leadership. She is married, is active in her local church in Huntsville, and is the mother of our two AMAZING grandsons. Our son is a graduate of Watkins College of Art, Design, and Film with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Film and Directing. He is married and currently serves as the Director of Photography in a large film production company. He and his wife are active in the Arts community in Memphis, Tennessee. We are also "parents" to a ten-year-old Snorkie (half Schnauzer and half Yorkie) who would be surprised to know that many people believe he is a dog. :)
If I had to pick one word to describe myself, I'd pick "student." I learn every day from my friends, family, colleagues, and students, and consciously continue my education through reading, research, seminars, and travel. I enjoy cooking, entertaining, gardening, all things British, Bible study, photography, writing, Atlanta Braves baseball, and University of Alabama football. I love that big world out there, but you'll usually find me starting each day on my porch with a cup of coffee and a book.
