Welcome

I have been teaching at HGHS since 2003. I am a graduate of the Athens State University.  In addition to my teaching duties, I am the advisor for the HGHS Junior Optimist Club, a member of the National Honor Faculty Council, and the department head of the Social Science department. Outside of school my interests include raising goldendoodles and labradoodles, and, of course, anything that involves my two children. Below you will find the courses that I teach.

So, what is Blended Learning? The shortest answer is that it is a blend of online learning and traditional (face-to-face) learning. A longer answer is that learning happens when and where it can,  not just in the classroom during the prescribed hours of class. Because we know this, we are implementing this class at HGHS to try to increase the flexibility of the learning environment. The result should be that you can get the content your way (within reason) on your schedule.  We know that many of you work, play sports, or are active in theater,  etc.  Wouldn’t you rather sleep in some days and have history class at 8:00 p.m. when you get home and can give the class more of your attention, (you know, without falling asleep dreaming of coffee)? This is our solution to that problem.
